Our work is working for a better planet!

At Triple-S Compost, we’re proud to be on the forefront of an industry that is part of the solution to environmental problems created by pollution and climate change. The green-recycling industry is growing impressively across the country as business and industry, consumers, and communities increasingly value sustainability and realize we must all work together for healthier and sustainable people, communities and our environment.

BlogWeWorkForClimateChange.jpgHere are four ways Triple-S Compost green-recycled products and solutions are working to fight the effects of climate change and make a positive impact for our planet:

1. Reduce greenhouse gas. Our production methods keep tons of organic material out of landfills, including food waste that can decompose to produce methane, a gas that is more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide. At Triple-S Compost, we use tons of food and organic waste for our feedstocks, diverting them from landfills and recycling them into more valuable landscaping products and soils.

2. Absorb greenhouse gas. Our green-recycled landscaping products help remove harmful emissions and decrease or offset carbon use. High-performance, green-recycled soils and blends improve underlying soil health and promote and grow more and healthier plants, trees and vegetation that then convert carbon dioxide into oxygen and new growth. The more plants we grow with better and sustainable compost, the less carbon remains in the atmosphere and the more we reduce our overall carbon footprint.

3. Resist and recover from climate change effects. As we begin to see more effects of climate change, resiliency becomes more important than ever. Green-recycled products can help our communities become more resilient, especially to weather phenomena like the excessive heat, drought and unusual freezes we’ve experienced recently in southwest Texas. For example, a healthy layer of nutrient-rich compost and mulch restores and replenishes the soil’s foundational health, providing essential protection during droughts or freezes by retaining moisture and during extreme storms by preventing erosion.

4. Create and encourage the circular economy. A key tenet of sustainability is the move from a reduce–reuse–recycle line to a more circular economy that focuses on regenerative practices that replenish and restore raw materials needed in industries — in our case, the soil. By promoting composting and recycling organic waste as a disposal option, we encourage business, industry and communities to create and use sustainable products, those that are continuously repurposed with environmentally friendly resources from cradle to cradle. It’s the circular economy in action!

“Everyone at Triple-S Compost is passionate about what we do here and why we do it,” said Triple-S Compost’s Jonathan Holub. “The sustainability challenges we face will require new and innovative thinking, and businesses, governments and consumers have to work together to move the needle. We’re proud to be committed to our industry’s best practices to make a difference.”
